About

I am an Irish web developer who resides in Monheim am Rhein in Germany, where I currently work as a Senior Frontend Engineer for Kaufland e-commerce.

My main focus these days is on web standards, good semantics, and accessibility, so good HTML and proper use of WAI-ARIA are things I concentrate on.

I was an early adopter of HTML5, I have even had a HTML5 book published on HTML5 Multimedia: Develop and Design (Peachpit ).

I am also one of the HTML5 Doctors and I have also curated at HTML5 Gallery.

In I became one of the founding contributors to Intel’s HTML5 Hub.

There are a number of small ongoing projects that I maintain such as HTML5 Bones and ARIA Bones.

I write sporadically on this site, mainly on web development topics but also on other subjects that interest me such as history and nature. I also tweet as @iandevlin.

I have a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Systems from the University of Limerick, Ireland.

If you wish to get in touch with me, you’ll find various methods of doing so on my contact page.
