Whilst I’ve already reviewed a number of HTML5 books, this is the first of the “cookbook” style and indeed the first technical cookbook that I’ve laid my eyes on. Written by Chuck Hudson and Tom Leadbetter (of HTML5 Doctor fame), the book aims to teach developers HTML5 through examples of differing complexity.

The famed HTML5 Doctors, Remy Sharp and Bruce Lawson have released the second edition of their extremely popular book, Introducing HTML5. I wrote a review of the first edition back in and eagerly awaited the release of this revised edition.
It doesn’t disappoint.
My book HTML5 Multimedia: Develop and Design is finally published and available at all good online book stores. Naturally times of availability in different countries and stores varies slightly (e.g. here in the UK), but overall the book is out.
As the author of an HTML5 book myself, I was recently asked to review a copy of another HTML5 book that was released earlier this year: HTML5: Guidelines for Web Developers by Austrian duo Klaus Förster and Bernd Öggl, who both work at the University of Innsbruck in Austria.
So, that’s it. Three months after starting from scratch, the final chapter and introduction have been reviewed and sent off to production.
Of course the production material still needs to be reviewed, but as for new material, I’m done.
Yes. It’s true. I’m writing a book! Somehow I have become a technical author. Well I know how it’s come about, but it still seems rather surreal.
The topic is HTML5 Multimedia, and it’s part of the new Design and Develop series by Peachpit, and in it I shall be talking about all things related to multimedia and HTML5.
