New website launched: Victoria Bavister

Two weeks ago I mentioned that I was in busy working on another site, and I’m pleased to say that it’s finished.
The new website for London actor Victoria Bavister is now live.

Two weeks ago I mentioned that I was in busy working on another site, and I’m pleased to say that it’s finished.
The new website for London actor Victoria Bavister is now live.
I am proud to announce the release of a new website, for actor and musician Henry Blake.
Henry began professional acting in his native home of New Zealand at the age of 12 and was the youngest ever to be nominated for Best Newcomer at the Chapmann Trip Theatre Awards for his performance as ‘Boy’ in Waiting for Godot at Circa Theatre. Henry is a musician, singing and playing guitar from an early age and playing in various rock/punk bands.
You can read more about Henry in his biography.
Henry got in touch with me last year after seeing my work on Toby Manley and asked if I could create a website for himself and another actor (more on that later). I was delighted to help and have been working on both of them these past few months.

Since I’ve been using the SocioFluid plugin by Adrian Ianculescu on this blog for a while I thought I’d make some changes so it outputs valid HTML5 code.
SocioFluid is a Social Bookmarking Plugin, displaying small icons, which grows when the mouse is moved over, similar to mac effect.
I have now done so and made it available to download.
Adrian’s version was originally guaranteed to work with WordPress 2.5.1 but it seems to work fine with 3.0.1 here on this blog.

I have taken Derek Punsalan’s Grid Focus WordPress theme (which is the theme used on this blog, although it’s slightly modified) and converted it to HTML5.
With Derek’s permission, this conversion is now available to download from this site.
Derek’s original works in WordPress 2.6+ and I can confirm that it works in WordPress 3.0.4.
Let me know what you think!

I have spent some time today converting the WordPress theme that I use for this blog, the excellent Grid Focus by Derek Punsulan, into HTML5. As of today, this blog is now HTML5 compliant.
It’s the first time I’ve delved into the world of WordPress theming, and I was pleasantly surprised how simple it is. Next step is to create my own from scratch, but I am looking forward to that.
Unfortunately one of the plugins that I use, SocioFluid generates invalid code, using deprecated elements and attributes. So this part doesn’t validate at all. I must look into an alternative. If you have any in mind, please let me know.
I’ve also converted my Decimal to Roman Numerals script into PHP for use in the copyright date in the footer.
I’ve been using Twitter Tools for a number of weeks now, automatically having some of my Twitter posts displayed on this blog. However I noticed today that they had stopped working. I knew that I had changed my Twitter password recently and realised that I had forgotten to change it in Twitter Tools. No problem, this can be resurrected easily enough I thought.
Except that it wasn’t.
